Adani Group expanding its Renewal Energy Firm to be the World’s Largest Renewal Energy

The Chairman of Adani Group, Gautam Adani, has businesses in many different sectors – Port,Power, Defense, Airport, Road, Rail, and its most valuable company from the future perspective. Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL). Gautam Adani’s total net worth is around $30 billion.

In June AGEL won a contract from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to set up a solar plant of 8 GW and to build additional solar cells of 2 GW and module manufacturing capacity,till the year 2025. The cost of this entire project is Rs 45,000 crore that will generate 4 lakh direct and indirect jobs in India. Adani Group will invest Rs 112,000 crore by 2030 in AGEL to become the world’s largest firm in producing green energy.

Adani Group claims to be built on strategically meeting India’s needs and requirements. Here is a list of some of the companies/sectors in which Adani Group is operational and contributes to India’s growth.

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL).

AGEL produces wind energy, solar energy, hybrid power. Solar generation is higher during the day, while wind generation is higher in the night. By 2025, AGEL power capacity will be 25 GW and currently producing 2198 MW solar energy and 397 MW wind energy per day. Currently, India is producing 387 GW capacity of energy in a year. AGEL operates in 11 states of India. The Worlds largest single location solar power project in terms of power generation was commissioned by the Adani Group at Kamuthi,in Tamil Nadu, with an investment of around Rs 45.5 billion. It spans a vast area of 2,500 acres, equivalent to about 950 Olympic-sized football fields and generates 648 MW of energy per day.

Adani Group also has Adani Solar, it is the Adani Group’s Solar Photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing and Engineering, Procurement and Construction(EPC) arm with the manufacturing capacity of 1.5 GW of solar cells.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ)

APSEZ represents a large network of ports and terminals, with Indias largest SEZ at Mundra.Adani Ports has 10 ports all over in India with the capacity of 388 MMTPA of cargo handling capacity and has the biggest commercial ports of India, Mundra port situated in Gujrat. Being the largest commercial port operator, it helps towards the country’s growing trade. It has its presence in six maritime states – Goa, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu spread across ten domestic ports.

Equipped with the latest cargo-handling infrastructure, the port facilities are best-in-class apart from being capable to handle various cargos – liquid cargo, dry cargo, crude, containers, and
the largest vessels. It consists of 15000 HA of industrial land and 4 lakh square feet of area in the warehouses.

Adani Power

Adani’s thermal power has 12,450 MW power generation capacity. This includes a power plant each in Mundra (Gujarat), Tiroda (Maharasthra), Kawai (Rajasthan), Udupi (Karnataka), Korba
and Raikheda (Chhattisgarh). This makes the company India’s largest private sector power player. The company has become the world’s first company to establish a coal-based supercritical thermal power project registered as a part of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol.

Adani Transmission Limted
Headquartered at Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Adani Transmission Limited (ATL) is one of the largest private sector power transmission companies in India with a presence across the western, northern and central regions of India. ATL owns and operates various High voltage AC transmission lines and substations of 132kV, 220kV, 400kV, 765kV voltage level and also High Voltage DC transmission lines and substations of +/- 500kV voltage level.

In its power transmission sector, its target is to set up 20,000 circuit Kms of transmission lines by 2022. It currently operates more than 14,000 circuit Kms of transmission lines and around 27,000 MVA of power transformation capacity. It has network availability of over 99.76 % in the country. It means network availability in the area where they provide electricity(across 9 states,comprising 39 substations), not to be confused with 99.76 % area of the country and has more than 30 lakh power connections.

Adani Road and Rail Projects

As part of the new business, the Group will focus on nationwide projects initiated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Ministry of Railways, Metro Corporations of the various States and similar projects under the purview of Central or State Authorities.

The Group has won 3 projects (Bilaspur-Pathrapali in Chattisgarh, Suryapet-Khammam, and Mancherial –Repallewada in Telangana) comprising approximately 650 Kms lane under hybrid annuity model (HAM) of NHAI for building National Highways (NH) to speed up the construction of roads in the country by renewing interest of private developers in highway projects.

Adani owns the longest private railway lines spanning about 300 Kms in India. These private rail lines are connected to its ports, mines, and other business hubs to ensure seamless cargo movement.

Adani Wilmar

By means of a joint venture with Adani Enterprises Ltd and Wilmar International Ltd (Singapore), Adani Wilmar Limited has become one of the largest food companies in India. The company’s portfolio entails its flagship ‘Fortune’ cooking oil brand which offers the largest variety of oils ranging from sun, mustard, soya, rice bran, groundnut and cottonseed. The brand has also come up with India’s first oil for diabetes care – Vivo. Other products include basmati rice, pulses and soya chunks.

Adani Wilmar Limited also caters to institutional demand by means of its industry essentials range including bulk packs of consumer essentials as well as Lauric & Bakery fats, Castor Oil derivatives, Oleochemicals and Soya value-added products.

Adani Wilmar has 16,515 tones of refining capacity, 8,825 tonnes of crushing capacity and 12,900 tonnes of packaging capacity per day. They have 1.5 millions of outlets and over 5000 distributors all over India.
