Tech giant Apple generally launches its iPhone in September every year, nevertheless, this year’s event only covered the Apple iPads and Watch. After production delays caused by the pandemic, the Conglomerate finally seems ready to launch this year’s iPhone, the iPhone 12. For a virtual event on October 13, the company also sent an invitation to bloggers and the media. According to some inputs, “Hi, Speed,” could be a reference to the iPhone’s new processor and perhaps the fact that it will support 5G connectivity. As per the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Luca Maestri, the delay in the launch date of the iPhone 12 was due to the pandemic.
The pandemic has hit productions for most smartphone makers. The company is expected to launch three new iPhones this year too like last year. In spite of the postponement, the company should be ready to bring the product to India in time for the festive sales this month. Last month the company launched its first-fully owned e-commerce store in India which could help speed up the India launch date. After announcing Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 6 on September 18, the company started selling in India through its store on October 1.
Although industry approximation suggests that Apple has only about 2% market share in India, the conglomerate has done well in the last quarter in India. According to some inputs, the company’s market share grew by just under 10% YOY in the last quarter. According to the source, the latest edition of the iPhone SE, which was launched in May this year, has been in demand in India, helping the company grow in India.
