As Bihar elections are approaching, political parties are busy with their seat-sharing formulae. On Tuesday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared that his party Janata Dal (United) will be contesting Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 from 115 seats and its ally Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) will contest on 121 seats. In a press conference, he further stated that under the seat-sharing formula agreed upon by the NDA allies, his party has been given 122 seats. Out of this, his party will offer seven seats to Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM). BJP is likely to offer some seats from its quota to Vikassheel Insaan Party.
Further, he clarified that there was no scope for confusion between the NDA allies BJP and JD(U) over seat-sharing in the forthcoming assembly elections. As per the CM, a consensus has been reached over who will contest from which region. He further stated that no one in JD(U) or BJP had any misunderstanding about anything.
