The German auto giant BMW has launched a new car in a new segment that wishes to provide the manufacturer with a wider range of products. This new model of 2-series Gran Coupe aims at restoration of sales that was induced due to the pandemic. This new car has been launched in two variants, M sport Variant which is priced around ₹41.4 lakh while Sport line is priced around ₹39.9 lakh. The car is locally produced at the Chennai plant. According to the company, the powertrain produces 190hp and the company claims the car can accelerate from 0-100km/hr in 7.5 seconds. Apart from this, the car comes with a twin-turbo 2-liter diesel engine.
For safety purpose, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with six airbags, ARB technology (actuator contiguous wheel slip limitation system) electronic vehicle immobilizer, anti-locking braking system (ABS), attentiveness assistance, dynamic stability control (DSC), cornering brake control, electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact portion and crash sensor and ISOFIX child seat mounting, among others. In terms of the feature list, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, 3D navigation behind the steering wheel with a 10.25-inch control display, gesture control that recognizes six pre-defined hand movements to control a number of functions.
In addition, the car features a parking assistant with a rear-view camera, wireless charging for mobile phones. On the other hand, it also comes with a reverse assistant that provides support in reversing out of a parking spot or through narrow driveways. The Upcoming model is a perfect example of entering a new segment to increase the share of the luxury car and increase the demand in the Indian market.
