For the month of October, Apple’s iPhone 12 has become the world’s best-selling 5G smartphone. The first 5G iPhone series has outdid some of the first 5G smartphones from the likes of Samsung, OnePlus, and Huawei. In the new Counterpoint Research’s monthly Market Pulse Service, iPhone has taken the lion’s share. iPhone 12 Pro is at the second spot. This makes the two iPhone models hold the top two ranks in the list. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G ranked third in the list. Despite the delayed launch of iPhone 12 by a month, the robust demand ahead of holidays led to Apple gaining the top 5G smartphone vendor.
Considering the fact that it was available for sale only for two weeks in October, the feat is quite extraordinary. According to Counterpoint, the biggest reason behind the growth in sales is the pent-up demand for a 5G device in the iOS ecosystem. Apart from the US, the iPhone 12 has done quite well in markets such as Japan and China. As per the report, the local presence of Apple is one of the biggest reasons behind the success of the iPhone 12 series phones in more than 140 markets. This helped the sales to rise dramatically for the month of October. Huawei Nova 7 5G is at the fourth spot, as per the research.
What is interesting about the research that the top ten positions in the market are taken by smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and Oppo. As per the survey, smartphone brands such as OnePlus and other smartphones have failed to make it big in October.
