In collaboration with Qualcomm, Reliance Jio has locally developed an open and interoperable architecture-based 5G solution and has achieved more than 1 Gbps speed on it. The work completed by Jio and Qualcomm is aimed to accelerate the development and roll-out of indigenous 5G network set-up and services in India. During Qualcomm’s 5G summit, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm, Mathew Oommen, said, “We are enthusiastic about working with Qualcomm Technologies in designing new generation cloud-native 5G RAN technology that is truly open and software-defined. The development of protected RAN solutions offers the perfect combination for local manufacturing and for fast-tracking the realisation of Atmanirbhar Bharat for an all-encompassing 5G nation”.
By means of 5G solutions, users will experience low latency communications, a higher speed, and improved digital experiences crosswise a wide array of connected devices, from 5G enabled devices to enterprise laptops to VR/AR products to vertical IoT solutions. The Conglomerate’s Senior Vice-president and general manager of 4G/5G Qualcomm Technologies said, “We just achieved more than a 1 Gbps milestone on the Reliance Jio 5G NR product, leveraging our Qualcomm 5G RAN platforms, and we look forward to growing our hard work with Reliance Jio to enable flexible and scalable 5G RAN deployments”.
To provide a foundation for scalable, virtualised, and interoperable cellular network infrastructure, the portfolio of Qualcomm 5G RAN platforms is designed. It also supports all key frequency bands on sub-6 GHz and mmWave spectrum. It is going to be ground-breaking news for those who wish access to super-fast internet.
