Tamil Nadu allows theatres to increase seating capacity to 100%

On Monday, Tamil Nadu government game permission to theatre owners to increase their seating capacity to 100%. Before this, the theatre owners were allowed to fill up to 50% of their capacity. Talking about the Covid-19 cases, on Monday, India registered 16,504 new coronavirus cases. This takes the tally of Covid-19 cases to 1,03,40,469. The death toll due to coronavirus rose to 1,49,649. Talking about the tally of active cases, it stood at 2,43,953. It’s been 14 straight days that the cases have been below the 3-lakh mark. So far, more than 99,46,867 people have recovered from the infection in the country.

On Sunday, Indian Council of Medical Research Director General Balram Bhargava rebutted accusations that the phase 3 trials of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin shot was not evaluated before India’s drug regulator accorded approval for restricted emergency use of the vaccine. He told that only after meticulous review of data, the authorisation was given. As per the Johns Hopkins University, the coronavirus has infected more than 8.50 crore people and killed more than 18.42 lakh across the globe. Apart from this, more than 4.75 crore people have recovered from the infection in the world. 

Talking about the theatre shut down for last 10 months, although theatres have opened, it is yet to witness a satisfactory footfall that could bring smiles on the face of theatre owners.
