Tejas express to resume soon

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Ministry of Railways, is all set to resume the services of Tejas Express trains to cater the growing passenger demand on account of the festive season. The Ahemdabad-Mumbai and Lucknow-New Delhi Express trains were suspended from March 19 due to the COVID-19. Both the trains will restart its operations from October 17.

To train and educate the employees of Tejas trains, IRCTC conducted an extensive program. It was aimed to manage the operations of the trains and delivers services as per the new normal amid COVID-19. To ensure the safety of passengers, a Standard Operations Procedure observing COVID-19 has been issued.  Following the social distancing norms for the initial period, every alternate seat will be kept vacant. Have a look at some of the guidelines:

  • Once seated passengers will not be allowed to exchange their seats
  • For passengers and staff use of face covers/masks will be mandatory
  • A Covid-19 protection kit will be offered to all the passengers which will contain one mask, one face shield, a bottle of hand sanitizers, and one pair of gloves
  • Before entering the coach, all the passengers will go through thermal screening and hand sanitization process
  • A staff will be deputed to disinfect the baggage and luggage of the passengers
  • Inside the coach, cleaning and frequent disinfection of frequently touched surface will be done. Also, the service trays and trolleys will be disinfected
  • Shortly, the bookings for the trains will be started on the e-ticketing website of IRCTC www.irctc.co.in and IRCTC Rail Connect App
