On Friday, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) informed that it has launched its online bus booking services. On January 29, the services went live for the service of the country. As per an official statement by IRCTC, it was gradually moving towards firmly aligning itself as the first government ‘One Stop Shop Travel Portal’ of the country. Already IRCTC is in the business of online rail and flight tickets booking. The recent move has been taken with the purpose to offer a more holistic travel experience to the customers. In the first week of March, the integration of this service over IRCTC Mobile-app is likely to be completed.
This will enable the public to book bus tickets by means of Mobile too. As per the statement, for providing the online bus booking services to the customers, the IRCTC has collaborated with over 50,000 state road transport as well as private bus operators covering 22 states and three union territories. The new feature of online bus booking will allow the customers to view a variety of buses. Apart from this, it will help to choose the appropriate bus for reviews, ratings, travel considering route, amenities and bus images available.
Apart from this, the customers will be able to choose their pick-up and drop points and timings. Also, they will be able to book their journey at a reasonable price with the ongoing bank and e-wallet discounts too. The new business initiative of IRCTC will allow the last mile connectivity to the travellers who are already making use of the services of IRCTC for train and flight tickets booking.
