This Taiwanese firm unveils its gaming academy in India

Asus, the Taiwanese firm, has launched the Asus ROG Academy in India. Talking about Asus, it is the brand behind renowned Republic of Gamers (ROG). The academy is said to be India’s first virtual academy programme for upcoming gamers who aspire to be professionals. Coming to ROG Academy, it is a year-long programme which is segregated into four quarterly sessions. The sessions will emphasise on esports games like, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. You can register for the academy from February 1, its registration will last till February 10.

Asus ROG Academy: Eligibility

Talking about the eligibility of ASUS, it requires a gamer to be 16+ to register for the academy. Apart from this, players between the age of 16 and 18 will be needed to offer a consent letter from their parents. The registration process will involve all participants to undergo a screening process. After this, depending on their roles, the shortlisted candidates will be placed in mixed teams. After an added screening process including in-game abilities, the top 20 candidates will then be organized into four squads.

During the three-month period after getting admission into ROG Academy, the final six players from the four squads will also be receiving Rs 15,000 as a stipend. Apart from this, they will get training from professional esports players and coaches for a period of three months. Talking about the details of the programme, they include activities ranging from theory and individual skill training to coach mentorship and training on elements like teamwork. Apart from this, the players will also be trained on higher-level concepts and tactics implemented in competitive gaming.
