WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging platforms across the globe, will cease to function on numerous old variants of iPhones and Android smartphones. Some users are likely to lose access all at once, however, some won’t be able to use a few features on the messaging platform.
When it comes to iOS users, smartphone users who have not upgraded to iOS 9 or beyond won’t be able to use WhatsApp. On the other hand, Android users below 4.0.3 won’t be able to make use of WhatsApp. The app developers have advised the users to update their devices to the aforesaid versions of their operating system to continue using the messaging platform. Those who are not able to update their operating systems will have to buy a new smartphone. Apart from this, they can look for alternatives to WhatsApp.
When it comes to iOS users, those who still have iPhone 4 or lower model won’t be able to use WhatsApp. Likewise, a person using Samsung Galaxy S2 won’t be able to use WhatsApp.
System upgrade is easy on iPhone devices as they can go into ‘Settings’ followed by ‘General’ and then tap on ‘Software Update’. They will let them get an idea of the version of the OS they are running. Also, they can come to know if they can upgrade or not. Android users can find it in the Phone’ section in the ‘Settings’ of their smartphone.
Apart from this, WhatsApp will stop working on phones such as Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S I9000, HTC Sensation, Samsung Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S and others.
