WhatsApp Web users to get this much-talked about feature

For WhatsApp Web users, the Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is working on adding a new feature. This will let users place voice and video calls right from their computer, ultimately improving the video calling experience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the two services witnessed a boom in users. This was on account of more people working from home and using video conferencing to connect with the outside world. According to a report, some users have begun seeing a button for voice calls and video calls on the WhatsApp Web with a ‘beta’ tag. In the chat header, one can see the buttons. A Twitter user Guillermo Tomoyose from Argentina spotted the feature.

A distinct pop-up window will open when a user makes or receives a call. This will let the user the control the call. In a separate tab, Web users will be able to view their call history just like mobile. As of now, the voice calls and video calls feature are in beta. However, it is available to a limited number of users. You need not worry if you haven’t got the feature yet as it will perhaps be available for more users in the coming days.

Besides, for the last many days, WhatsApp has been going through a lot of backlash from users worldwide after it informed about a debatable privacy policy update. Recently, the company gave a clarification that the features were option. Despite this, the Indian government has asked the messaging app to withdraw its privacy policy changes.
