Xiaomi unveils Mi 11 without charger

Yesterday Xiaomi launched its new flagship phone, the Mi 11 series in China. Xiaomi surprised its fans by announcing a more customer-friendly technique of handling the ‘no charger in the box’ trend picking up pace in the smartphone industry right now. As Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, had informed last week, the company launched the Mi 11 flagship without a charger in the box. Nevertheless, it came up with a surprise by declaring that this will only be the first of the two Mi 11 bundles launched at the event. The other Mi bundle would come with a 55W charger in the box. The company further announced that both these bundles will be available to buyers at the exact same price.
This will give the customers an opportunity to decide if they need a charging adapter with their new phone or not. When we compare Xiaomi’s strategy with Apple’s strategy, Xiaomi’s method looks more customer-friendly as it does not snatch away this choice out of the hands of the buyer. Customers can help Xiaomi work towards its aim of reducing the planet’s carbon footprint.
However, it is yet to be seen if the strategy will be limited to Chinese market, or if this will be explored further in its dealings with buyers across the globe.
